Giveaway For The Tots!

LEGO Santa Yoda

You may have seen the post I made in the forums last week about LEGOSantaYoda.com pledging to donate up to 1 million gifts to the US Marine Corps’ Toys For Tots program. The catch is they only donate one gift for each e-greeting sent from the website and so far the total is limping along at just over a hundred donations a day.

Let’s see if we can’t kick that number up a notch. Ace has generously offered a MISB 8095 General Grievous Starfighter set to one lucky winner chosen at random who sends an e-greeting from LEGOSantaYoda.com to giveaways@fbtb.net. Make sure the message reads FOR THE TOTS! and feel free to send as many as you like. The more you send, the more chances you have and the more donations get made to a great charity. The giveaway ends when they shut their program down, so be quick and get those greetings in!

As an added bonus, I’ll send a little extra something to the person who sends the most greetings so let’s get to work spreading the holiday cheer!

Pre-Launch Guild Program Ends Tomorrow

As we prepare for Early Game Access to Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, we’re working to ensure that those of you who have registered guilds as part of our Pre-Launch Guild Program experience a smooth transition into the game. To that end, we want to remind you all that today is your last chance to finalize your guild before we bring an end to the Pre-Launch Guild Program*.

Before 11:59PM CST tonight, make sure that you’ve done the following:

Ensured that your guild meets the requirements for import to the gameReviewed all pending guild application requestsOptionally, designated your guild’s Allies and AdversariesMade any final changes to your Guild

At the end of the Pre-Launch Guild Program and before your guild is deployed to The Old Republic, guilds on the website may not be altered in any way. This includes creating/disbanding guilds, adding/removing guild members, promoting/demoting guild members, adding/removing allies and adversaries, as well as changing guild's server type, time zone, and language preference. During this period, guilds can continue posting in their public and private forums. Prior to Early Game Access, you will be notified by email to check the website for your guild’s deployment status.

Now is the time to make sure that your guild meets the criteria to be transferred into the game, so visit the Guild HQ now! Remember, one of the requirements to have your guild ported to the game is that you redeem a Pre-Order Code at our Code Redemption Center. If you haven’t pre-ordered the game yet, you still have time. Visit our Pre-Order page, secure your copy and redeem your Pre-Order Code to help ensure that your guild is transferred to the game for launch!

To learn more about guilds in The Old Republic, check out the Guilds Game System page for details and visit the Guilds FAQ for answers to commonly asked questions.

*Customers who pre-order Star Wars: The Old Republic will be able to play the game before the official launch. “Early Game Access” is the period of time before the official game launch when pre-order customers may access the game. Early Game Access may be up to 5 days. The length of your Early Game Access depends on the date and order in which you redeemed your Pre-Order Code at the Code Redemption Center. See Pre-Order FAQ for more details.

** We will make reasonable efforts to ensure that qualifying guilds are imported into a server that meets your specified preferences, but we cannot make any guarantees given the anticipated volume of guilds (among other factors). All server placements therefore remain in our sole discretion. We also cannot take responsibility for technical errors or glitches that prevent your guild from importing into the game as planned. See Terms of Service for more details.

Imperial Shuttle $219

Did you miss out on the Amazon Gold Box deal the other day for 10212 Imperial Shuttle? While not as great as the $198 price tag from the deal, Amazon currently has the set on sale for $219, down from $259.99. Act quickly for Amazon’s pricing behavior as of late is erratic to say the least.

The Art and Making of The Old Republic

Chronicle Books has released a new book which highlights the process of creating Star Wars™: The Old Republic™. Co-written by former Star Wars Insider editor Frank Parisi and BioWare Writing Director Daniel Erickson, this book chronicles the creation of the game, with over 150 pages of conceptual artwork and interviews with various members of the development team.

Lead Concept Artist Arnie Jorgensen discusses how the BioWare art team came up with the look for the Bounty Hunter class in The Old Republic.

The Art and Making of Star Wars: The Old Republic includes over one hundred pieces of artwork, many of which you have never seen before. Much of the artwork is accompanied by text describing the process of creating each class and every world as well as the process of working in this previously unexplored time period in Star Wars™ lore.

In addition to working on creating a familiar-yet-different feel to the Star Wars galaxy to represent an age over 3,000 years before the rise of Darth Vader, the book also explores some of the content created exclusively for the game. In the below sample, we can see some of the concept art for the many creatures that inhabit the previously unseen world of Voss, as well as a couple of familiar creatures.

This book is available now, and you can purchase it through the book's publisher, Chronicle Books, as well as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other retailers.
